This March 8, join in with activists across the world to celebrate women for International Women’s Day.
The past year has seen unprecedented involvement and activism for women’s right as the #MeToo movement has spread across the world.
Women from all corners of the world have taken to the streets for equality, justice, and women’s rights following numerous high-profile instances of sexual violence and domestic abuse.
While these high-profile cases have changed the narrative surrounding women, there is still more work to do.
That’s why the theme for this year’s International Women’s Day is “Time is Now: Rural and Urban Activists Transforming Women’s Lives.
The global marches and campaigns that have dominated the headlines ultimately are aimed at mobilizing for a more equal future for women and everyone.
International Women’s Day is an opportunity to transform this positive momentum into action for women in all settings, including women in rural settings, such as Wayne County and Holmes County, and many other parts of Ohio.
This will echo the priority of the UN Commission on the Status of Women, in order to help women across the world.
Women in rural communities, like those who come to OneEighty for victim advocacy, support services, and family assistance, are an important part of the global fabric.
So join in this International Women’s Day to help celebrate women from all backgrounds March 8.
