Volunteer

Volunteers play an essential role in our organization. OneEighty deals with sexual abuse, drug intervention, and other sensitive topics; due to that fact, we treat and recruit volunteers like employees. If you’re interested in volunteering with OneEighty you must first complete and submit an application form.

After an application has been submitted, we conduct interviews and check references for potential candidates. Qualified candidates are offered a volunteer position and scheduled for one of our training sessions. Please check this page periodically for scheduled training sessions.

It's important to note that not all volunteers are eligible for all positions. Volunteers may be asked to complete a drug test, background check and/or TB test.
If you would like to be considered for a volunteer position, please complete and submit the application at your earliest convenience. If you have any other questions, please call our Main Office at 330-264-8498 and ask for Dwight Sprang, Volunteer Coordinator.

Application

OneEighty uses Volunteer Levels to determine the specific requirements of different volunteer positions:

Level 1 positions do not have direct contact with clients, the community, or confidential information. These positions require a one-day, 3-hour training and include responsibilities like working in the donation room, cleaning, or maintenance work.

Level 2 positions have limited contact with clients, the community, or confidential information. Jobs may include helping in the office with planning/organization or doing awareness activities/special events in the community. These positions require 3 days of 3-hour training and also require a fingerprint background check.

Volunteers have direct contact with clients, the community, and/or confidential information. These jobs include working in the shelter/residential housing and hospital advocacy. These positions require up to 40 hours of training, as well as a fingerprint background check and a tuberculosis test. Volunteers must be at least 18 years old with proof of a high school diploma/equivalency.
