Enhancing Community Support: OneEighty Expands Behavioral Health Services to Wooster’s Milltown Location

Main Entrance of Millersburg brick building

Wooster’s Milltown Professional Building Location has been a vital part of OneEighty’s healthcare landscape for nearly nine years. The organization’s recent expansion at this location represents a significant stride in enhancing behavioral health support for the community. With a focus on accessibility and client-centered care, OneEighty is positioned to offer a range of integrative services designed to cater to those seeking crucial behavioral health support. “I think, in general, it’s going to increase access to care,” Bobbi Douglas, OneEighty’s Executive Director, observed. “The idea of having a second location that’s located in a different part of town can make a big impact in terms of transportation,” she added.

Bridging the Gap in Mental Health Care: Integrating Services for Enhanced Well-being

The proximity of the new Milltown location to primary care physicians speaks volumes about OneEighty’s commitment to offering holistic, client-centered care. “We also wanted to be located close to, or in the same facility as, other healthcare providers, because best practice has really shown that integrating physical health and behavioral health is a good thing,” Douglas explained.

OneEighty staff psychologist Kathleen Fox agreed. “Despite primary care physicians often prescribing antidepressants, patients need more than just medication. Integrating behavioral health services into the familiar setting of a doctor’s office can aid in breaking barriers for individuals, especially older adults, who might feel uncomfortable seeking behavioral health support elsewhere.”

Ensuring Accessibility and Whole Person Care

The expansion to Wooster’s Milltown Professional Building not only signifies increased access to behavioral health services but also aligns with OneEighty’s vision of treating individuals comprehensively. By meeting people where they’re comfortable and collaborating with healthcare providers, OneEighty aims to address not only diagnosed behavioral health conditions but also situational stressors and adjustment disorders. “OneEighty is very good at being more holistic, in terms of seeing the whole person. That’s a big part of recovery – clients just trying to be healthy in many different ways,” Fox asserted.

Integrative Services Offered and Collaboration with Healthcare Professionals

The Milltown location provides counseling and therapy services, with potential plans for group sessions and intensive outpatient programs based on demand. OneEighty therapists are trained in innovative therapies like:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) – A structured, goal-oriented talk therapy.
  • Contingency Management (CM) – A behavior-modification approach that provides positive reinforcement for desired behaviors. It involves rewarding individuals for meeting specific goals or abstaining from negative behaviors and is commonly used in substance use disorder treatment.
  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – A kind of talk therapy for people who experience emotions very intensely.
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) – A technique where traumatic memories are processed while engaged in bilateral stimulation such as tapping or eye movements.
  • Matrix Model – A structured, multi-component behavioral treatment model that consists of evidence-based practices, including relapse prevention, family therapy, group therapy, psychoeducation, and self-help – delivered sequentially and clinically coordinated.
  • Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) – A harm-reduction approach that combines medications with counseling and behavioral therapies.
  • Motivational Interviewing (MI) – An evidence-based treatment that addresses ambivalence to change.
  • Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SRBIT) – Comprehensive, integrated, public health approach to early identification, intervention, and treatment services for clients with substance use disorders.

Serving Underserved Populations

The Milltown expansion strives to address the behavioral health needs of older adults, who often face challenges dealing with depression, grief, anxiety, and substance use issues due to life transitions, loss, and retirement. OneEighty’s team is well equipped and experienced in handling this demographic’s unique mental health concerns.

“We hope this new location will offer easier access, especially for underserved populations like older adults,” Douglas expressed.

Enhancing Access and Financial Support

OneEighty’s commitment to inclusivity extends to its flexible payment options, aiming to ensure everyone has access to vital behavioral health services. “Financial constraints should never be a barrier to behavioral health support,” Fox asserted.

“We accept most insurances and offer services on a sliding fee scale based on income and number of dependents,” Douglas added.

Looking Ahead: Specialized Programming for Licensed Professionals

OneEighty has recognized a growing demand for specialized support among licensed professionals, prompting the organization to develop targeted programs. While this initiative is in its nascent stages, it underscores OneEighty’s dedication to meeting the unique needs of professionals within diverse fields.

OneEighty has also observed an increase in referrals from professional boards aiming to develop specialized programming for licensed professionals. While this service is in the initial stages, it reflects the organization’s commitment to catering to diverse needs, with a focus on accessibility, client-centered care, and a range of integrative services tailored to support clients seeking mental health assistance.
