OneEighty Announces Dr. Nicole Labor as New Medical Director
Wooster, OH – OneEighty is very pleased to introduce Dr. Nicole Labor to the community as our Medical Director, starting officially on January 2, 2018. Although not really new to OneEighty, since she has served as the contracted, part-time leader of our Medication Assisted Treatment Program since 2012, she is new to this position as a direct, full-time staff member.
“This is a tremendous milestone for OneEighty and for those we serve and will serve” said Bobbi Douglas, OneEighty’s Executive Director. Bobbi continued “Dr. Labor brings not only magnificent credentials and a sterling reputation to our community, she also brings to us a passion, commitment and a level of caring for the populations we serve that is unmatched. Few communities, be they large urban centers and especially smaller, rural areas, have a person of this stature leading their medical treatment for patients suffering addiction disease. In combination with our other treatment services, we will now offer the depth and breadth of services to help our patients and clients recover that are available in few communities. Plus, we’ll be able to offer more comprehensive services to more people needing help in Wayne and Holmes Counties.”
Dr. Labor offered in a written statement “I am grateful to be able to continue the work I enjoy in a community that is grossly underserved. I look forward to continuing and expanding the treatment programs we currently offer while being able to maintain a better work-life balance. The disease of addiction isn't going anywhere and by working with an organization comprised of a strong team of individuals with like-minded goals, I feel blessed and purposeful in standing in the front lines against it. “
Dr. Labor is Certified by the American Osteopathic Board of Family Practice, the American Board of Addiction Medicine and is licensed as a Medical Physician and Surgeon in Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York. Since 2011, she has been the Associate Medical Director of Addiction Medicine for Summa Physicians of Akron, and the Associate Medical Director for the Esper Treatment Center in Erie, PA. Since 2012 she has been the Chief Medical Officer for the Interval Brotherhood Home in Akron and as mentioned above, the Director of Medication Assisted Treatment for OneEighty.
OneEighty already offers a wide range of services and this will add many more to the toolkit. OneEighty will be able to increase the number of patients receiving multiple types of medical and counseling services and will be licensed as a terminal distributor which will enable us to distribute a broader range of treatment drugs shown to greatly assist positive recovery outcomes.
OneEighty will keep the community, local hospitals and medical providers and behavioral health providers apprised as more details of our expanded services and capabilities are released. Initially, all medical services will be provided in OneEighty’s current offices that already includes an equipped medical exam room.
Bobbi Douglas concluded, “The current opiate epidemic is splintering the fabric of our communities. The more that we can do to offer the best treatment services and prevention programs, the quicker we can escape the horrible grip this epidemic has on our communities, families, friends and neighbors. We will continue to fight the war as best we can.”
OneEighty serves Holmes and Wayne Counties with multiple programs that include a full continuum of services.
